Trauma-Informed Foundations

BUILDING A FOUNDATION

Understanding Trauma and Its Impact

Trauma can affect how people communicate, build relationships, respond to stress, make decisions, and experience services and systems.

Trauma-Informed Foundations helps participants understand trauma and recognize how it may appear in youth, adults, colleagues, community members, and themselves. The training introduces practices grounded in physical and emotional safety, trust, transparency, choice, collaboration, and dignity.

The training recognizes that trauma may be individual, cumulative, historical, collective, and systemic. Participants are never required to disclose personal experiences or revisit traumatic events.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Who This Is For

This training is appropriate for organizations, professionals, and community members beginning trauma-informed learning or seeking shared understanding across roles.

It is especially relevant in education, health and behavioral health, justice and reentry, government, social services, youth programs, and community-based organizations.

IMPORTANT DISTINCTION

One Training Is a Foundation,
Not the Finish Line

Completing one training does not make an organization trauma-informed. The training builds a foundation. Organizational change requires continued learning and changes to relationships, environments, policies, practices, and accountability.
